You’ve been lied to.
They told you about a tango that has nothing to do with the reality.
They told you that tango was for tourists. They sold you souvenirs of farolitos and cumparsitas. They put the gacho on your head and took a photo of you in Caminito.
They dressed in black and red, they put on their fishnet stockings and their striped pants, and showed you the corte and the quebrada. They told you that in tango the man is the one who leads.
They showed you sad and suffering faces. They showed you Al Pacino dancing “Por una cabeza”, they hummed “El choclo”, they read you the lyrics of Cambalache and then they left.
I never saw any of that in a milonga. I never saw any of that at a real tango event. Don’t expect to find any of that on this website.
If you want to know what is really happening today with tango in the world, maybe I can help.
